Las Vegas is quite literally an oasis – and just like every oasis it provides a welcome respite from the desert – or world – around it. With the LGBT+ friendly city’s reputation for escapism through clubs, gambling, showgirls, go-go boys and regretful nights out a la The Hangover, it is easy to forget it is also home to some of the best restaurants in all the US – through which to enjoy a different type of indulgence.
Here are seven of the best restaurants that have a little of Las Vegas’s flair poured on top of the dining experience.
Map of the Most Unique Restaurants in Vegas
1. Le Cirque
Cirque du Soleil? More like Cirque de slay! The artistic circus performance group needs little introduction with their extravagant shows sold out every night on the Las Vegas strip. What is less known is that they also own a restaurant near the strip, which more than personifies their charismatic sense of whimsical fun.
The décor is splashed with characteristic vibrant colors, but also inserts some class into the mix – it being a Michelin star restaurant. Found in the Bellagio hotel it has a gorgeous lakeside view and offers premium French cuisine.
A varied tasting menu boasts such high-class delights as kusshi oyster in champagne foam, Rohan duck pear in foie gras cognac sauce, maine lobster…you get the point. Not to mention a wine list worthy of the pickiest of connoisseurs. It isn’t cheap but you pay for the experience as much as the exquisite food.

2. Peppermill
If Vegas were a restaurant, Peppermill would be it. Expect celebrities sipping extravagant cocktails – like their award-winning Bloody Marys – on plush sofas in a lounge besides the restaurant itself.
Found on the Vegas strip, it has appeared in numerous movies from Showgirls to Casino and has hosted the likes of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. The decor drips Vegas charm with a backdrop of mirrored walls and artificial trees.
As for the food, it serves up huge portions – as it should be – that are pure gluttony incarnate. Everything from waffles and pancakes to their famous Peppermill burger and juicy steaks. Vegas never tasted so good.
3. Mr. Mamas
They say Mama knows best and it is true that Mr Mamas really know how to brew up a good breakfast hangover cure. Heading straight there after a heavy night out is never a bad idea – you certainly won’t be alone.
Mr Mamas has that authentic American diner vibe done right and is just off the main strip with a menu containing the likes of their famous Cali Omelet, Mama’s Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, pancakes and giant cinnamon rolls.
4. Sparrow and Wolf
Or perhaps you are looking for something with a bit more varnish. Sparrow and Wolf are where the old world meets the new with regards to North American cuisine.
The stylish restaurant is found right across from Chinatown Plaza and blends cooking techniques and dishes from as far back at the 18th century with newer dishes and styles – a literal melting pot! The atmosphere is of warmth and hearth, which is quite an odd vibe for Las Vegas and conjures memories of sitting round your grandmother’s table as she fires up the wood oven.
The menu changes over the seasons but expect to find lavish dishes with a special focus on seafood delicacies like wood fired Harissa octopus and the best oysters you’ll ever eat – at least this far from the ocean.
5. Blackout (the number one most unique restaurant in Las Vegas)
Las Vegas can be a royal assault to the senses – all lights and noise. So, why not give yourself over to the dark side at Blackout restaurant, the most unique place to eat in Las Vegas. You’ll dine in pitch black darkness and be forced to rely solely on your five other senses. Phones are banned leaving you to fully immerse yourself in the experience.
Neither the service nor the quality of food suffers from these circumstances, since the waiters are all equipped with night-vision goggles, there is an extensive drink list and the menu is full of mouth-watering dishes – some with secret identities for you to guess at.
Blackout was voted one of the best restaurants in 2018/19 and it is definitely a worthy addition to any visit to Vegas.
6. Top of the World
From the darkness below to the lights above, Top of the World is an iconic restaurant in Las Vegas which sits up in the clouds looking down upon the beautiful chaos of a city below. The aptly named Top of the World is found 800 feet up The Strat Hotel and Casino and revolves 360 degrees as you tuck into your meal.
Besides the mind-blowing views, Top the World also has a rather classy push-the-boat-out feel to it and tasty food to devour – like the ribeye steak and a great lobster. The dress code is “business casual”, so be sure to dress for the occasion.
7. Hell’s Kitchen
Gordon Ramsay’s reputation speaks for itself. The infamously belligerent chef gets it done; he might mince his meats, but he doesn’t mince his words.
His restaurant, Hell’s Kitchen, in Caesars Palace is named after his TV show and more than lives up to his reputation for excellence. You genuinely feel like you’re eating on the studio set with the bright lights and the floor to ceiling windows looking down on the strip below. The whole place simply oozes class.
The menu is of course a study in excellence and it is Gordon Ramsay’s signature dish, Beef Wellington, that is the must eat of Hell’s Kitchen – a truly melt in your mouth tender meaty pastry that’ll leave a lasting impression on your taste buds. Again, it isn’t cheap but then, who really comes to Vegas to be thrifty!
