How Las Vegas Can Be Kid-Friendly

Sharing is caring!

Las Vegas is one of those cities that I was always going back to, which probably sounds strange coming from an originally child traveler. Las Vegas happens to be in the middle of Los Angeles and Flagstaff, so it was an easy getaway for my parents when I was growing up and for me in college. Let me tell you how Las Vegas can be kid-friendly from the perspective of a once upon a time kid in Vegas including Las Vegas kid activities!

I can hear you now: โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to do in Las Vegas if youโ€™re under 21.โ€ Yes, being 21 is the magic ticket for clubs, bars, and alcohol, but some people might not be big drinkers anyway. As a kid though, this isnโ€™t an option, obviously. However, my memories of Vegas as a kid are awesome! My family went more times than I can count. My brother and I ran around like we owned the place. We played in all the arcades while eating endless M&Mโ€™s from M&M world. Also there is an pool in every hotel. We spent so much time swimming!

I know it might seem weird to bring kids to Las Vegas but we didnโ€™t even know what we were missing. My brother and I swam all day and played in arcades at night. We knew there were casinos and the adults were really loud and crazy sometimes, but we never really connected that with alcohol.

Things to do in Las Vegas for kids

Believe it or not, there are plenty of things do that are appropriate for all ages! Here are some activities for kids in Las Vegas:

  1. My family watched the Bellagio Fountain show and went to the free gardens.

  1. We saw performancesย like the Blue Man Group, Penn and Teller, and the Mac King Comedy show, where the inappropriate jokes went right over our heads.
  2. The Luxor occasionally had museum exhibits like the Titanic artifact exhibition and Body Worlds showcase.
  3. M&M world is a must! As a kid, I had dreams about the colorful M&M wall from which you dispensed M&Mโ€™s into a candy bag.

  1. Nevada has more than Vegas! Outside of the city there are some great hikes and scenic drives, like Red Rock Canyon.
  2. Check out the Seven Magic Mountains just outside of Las Vegas for bright, colorful rock sculptures. They make for fun photos and no hiking is needed!
